Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Use the following procedure to` prime the fuel system:If air enters the fuel system, the air must be purged from the fuel system before the engine can be started. Air can enter the fuel system when the following events occur:
The fuel tank is empty or the fuel tank has been partially drained.
The low-pressure fuel lines are disconnected.
A leak exists in the low-pressure fuel system.
The fuel filters are replaced.

Typical example
Open vent screw (1) and operate hand priming pump (4). When fuel free from air comes from the vent, close the vent screw (1). Use only hand pressure to close the vent screw.
Open vent screw (2) on the secondary fuel filter. When fuel free from air comes from the vent, close the vent screw (2).

Typical example
Loosen the fuel connector (5) and operate hand priming pump (4). When fuel free from air comes from the connector, close the fuel connector (5). Tighten the fuel connector securely.
Turn the keyswitch to start the engine and crank the engine. For more information, refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, Starting the Engine.
